Parenting Hack – DIY mini Lego Table

My son is in LOVE with legos. He is always asking me to bring along his little mini table. It’s a great way to pass the time for him when we are waiting for doctors visits, a restaurant, or even just using his imagination when I am trying to get his sister to sleep.

This is such a simple DIY project you only need three things.

A case( I love using Altoids case because its a perfect size for this project) Legos and a hot glue gun

First place hot glue around the edges of the lego flat piece. I used two pieces so that it would cover the top of the Altoids Case.

Once that glue is around the edges then you can go ahead and place the lego piece on the top of the Altoids container and press down so it adheres to the top.

Once the top has adhered you can then fill the tin container with lego pieces of your liking. I like to put some lego people in there too. This allows for more creativity.

This is a perfect size to fit in a purse or diaper bag, perfect when you are on the go.

Don’t try to rain on my parade

I have been looking forward to my baby free girls night for WEEKS so of course since we will be spending some time outside I looked at the weather forecast for the day. The only day that it is supposed to rain is on Saturday. I think to myself well maybe it will be wrong. It was not wrong(for once weather man you are correct)

The good news it that the night is still going to go on as planned and the rain should subside after our dinner and we can still go to an amazing place downtown and have our drinks on the rooftop. The bad news is…NONE I am getting out the house with my girls and I have the prefect outfit :)

IMG_1366Pants: NYDJ Jeans // Shirt: Asos// Shoes and Purse: Just Fab// Necklace and Rings:H&M

I fell in love with these jeans when Gabi Fresh wrote about them last September and I had to get them. Being a plus size girl you always are on the hunt of for great jeans. Well, these did not disappoint. They have just the right amount of stretch and are so comfortable. These are now a staple piece in my closet.

Since it’s a girls night I also decided that I would rock some metallic tattoos. I love bracelets but I have surprisingly small wrist so they always fall off. With these tattoos I can have the illusion that I am wearing jewelry and I don’t have to worry about losing anything.

40 Date Night Ideas

couple

Before we were married my husband and I sat down and discussed what we expected out of marriage. One thing we both agreed on was that we needed to continue to date one another. It’s not advantages for your relationship to think that you or your partner will never change. One of the ways that you can keep up with the changes that comes with life and grow together is to have date nights. They can be something simple as just talking to each other about what your life plans are for the next five years to a weekend getaway vacation.

The important thing to do is for you to have a night to yourself where you don’t talk about work or the kids and you get to know your partner. We as a couple do this once a week. We have been doing this for the past nine years and even after the arrival of our son last year we still make time for us once a week.

Toddler Activity: Non toxic Homemade Paint

IMG_0221

I am not a big DIY person. However, I looked up a recipe on how to make paint for my son. Yes, I know that I could just go to the store and purchase some finger paint, however, my son is still in the stage that he likes to put everything he touches in his mouth. This recipe is GREAT for the child that still likes to eat what they touch. I should also say that even though this recipe for paint is non-toxic and that it can be consumed it is NOT meant to eat. To make this, even more, BABY friendly all you need is yogurt and food coloring :)

This is very easy to make and the ingredients are things that many of us have in our home already.

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Food coloring
  • Water
  • Plastic Cups

IMG_0209

Add 2 Tablespoon of sugar to pan

IMG_0210

1/3 cup of flour next

IMG_0211

1 Teaspoon of Salt

IMG_0212

2 cups of Water and turn on heat to stir mixture together

IMG_0213

Mix continually  until smooth and mixture thickens

IMG_0215

Pour mixture into plastic cups equally. I have four cups for the four colors I wanted to use. (you can have as many as you like)

IMG_0219

Add The color. I wanted them to have a deep color so I added 5-6 drops( I used plastic knife to mix  the color

IMG_0220

Make sure that the mixture has cooled all the way down before letting toddler play.

while it was cooling I set up a play area for my son. I used a trash bag that I cut and taped to the floor so clean up would be a breeze

IMG_0223

I let him have a blast. the food coloring didn’t stain the floor or my son. This is a great activity.

Peek A Boo

I find that I enjoy simple play time with my son. Usually I am just in the moment. However, today I wanted to capture his silly side. I know that he won’t be this young forever and I will always cherish these precious moments. Now I have something to look back on and enjoy as he grows older.
