Summer is HERE and that means short hair or putting it up off your neck. The temps are hot and so is this cute protective hairstyle.
Since I started doing my makeup a few years ago(2 yrs this coming June) I realize that I love big bold looks
Those are fun to do but it’s ok to look subtle very now and then as well. I am so thankful that I have friends who love makeup just as much as I do and have introduced me to nude lips and “everyday” makeup. I have fallen in love with mauves, browns and peaches. I may even do a video soon to showcase my favorite browngirl friendly nudes.
I am so happy that one of my friends decided to help me out and show an everyday makeup look. You can check that out here. We decided to create these looks and demo the new Becca Chrissy Teigen Palette.
I am so glad that I didn’t write off nude lipsticks and glosses. I am having so much fun creating these everyday looks now. Let me know what some of your favorite nude lipsticks are.
Today Shea Moisture rolled out their new commercial under their new slogan #everybodygetslove and received some backlash. They didn’t show anyone with 4a-c hair and people are up in arms about it. While I understand why people are upset at the lack or representation in the commercial I am not one to boycott this brand.
When I first became natural over five years ago I had no idea where to turn to. Pantene was my go to but they only had a line for black women with chemically treated hair and it was so drying. I searched youtube and found out about Shea Moisture and decided to give it a try. I fell in love with it. I love that these products have become inclusive and people with MANY different textures can use this brand. My daughter and I have different textures but we can still use the same brand and that means a lot to me because I know and trust this brand for my hair.
This commercial I feel was just a way for them to try and bring in new clientele that they haven’t reached yet. I cab’t fault them in that. Now if this was the ONLY commercial they they released I would have been like HOLD UP! what about the people who made you who you are as a company. However, when they rolled out their new advertising strategy with #everybodygetslove they made sure that we were represented and beautifully I might add.
This commercial was 7 months ago and because we live in a microwave society sometimes its easy to forget things that happened 2 min ago let alone 7 months ago. We all lead busy lives. I honestly think that this was not a big issue and this touches on the subject of being so quick to turn our backs on black owned businesses. This company is STILL run by a black family and they make sure they cater to the black community. When they choose their ambassadors to the brands they make sure that black people are their representative( My family was chosen as a brand ambassador but believe me this in NO way makes me stand up for them based of just that)
This is a company I believe in and I have used for over 5 years. I didn’t see this much backlash when Pantene made a commercial that was obviously catering to a black audience when in fact the product didn’t start out that way.
I personally will continue to use this brand for myself and for my family
Here is the commercial that started the backlash
Edit to add update: Shea Moisture has issued an apology
One of my favorite things to do is mixing prints. So many people are intimidated by this. No need to be, Pick similar colors in the prints that coordinate. For this look I chose Black and white. Once you have similar colors in the clashing prints you are good to go. Mix those patterns and enjoy the compliments.
Shoes: Just Fab from Spring 2016(Same color different style)
I can’t believe that it has been a full month since I had a baby. I was invited to a wedding shower and I was so excited to get all dressed up and have a fun night with the girls. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and I miss it so much(Florida really doesn’t have a fall) I wanted to incorporate fall colors in my outfit.
Outfit Details: Sweater H&M//Stripe Tank Top: H&M//Houndstooth skirt: Fashion to Figure//Earrings: H&M
Don’t be afraid to mix prints together. Prints on prints are something that is eye-catching and looks great together. If you are not sure what prints to mix you can always use the same color scheme and add a pop of color. I decided to go with the classic black and white and use a pop of rustic copper as the pop. This sweater reminded me so much of leaves and had me dreaming of apple picking and hay rides.
For makeup I wanted to go with a very earthy eye and bold lip. Jouer just came out with their fall liquid lip colors and Cabernet is the PERFECT fall red.
So what are some outfits you want to rock this fall? share them below or tag me on IG. I can’t wait to see what you put together.
