There is a challenge video going on over on Youtube, the anti haul video is a a fun video to make. You don’t have to spend money( Or maybe you did and you wouldn’t recommend the product) and you get ot share your opinion on why those products aren’t worth you spending money on.
There are about seven products I have listed in the video. I could have listed a few more but I didn’t want the video to be too long. One product that I didn’t list was one that I personally bought and that was the ABH Renaissance palette. I LOVE a few of the colors ( Love letter, Venitian red and Red ocher are my fave) However the amount of FALL OUT is RIDICULOUS!
I own the ABH World Travler palette and that is amazing, no fall out and one of my favorite everyday palette to use. I am so sad that it was only limited time.
Seriously if you can get your hands on that palette do so! My sister came to visit and I bought two because I loved it so much and I gave her my other one and she said its her favorite as well. Anyway this blog post is NOT about products I love lol. Below you can see what products made my Anti- Haul list.
What would be on your anti haul list? Tell me in the comments bellow
The other day I was scrolling through some comments on my youtube page and came across a comment that made me chuckle to myself. It was on a video I had made of just a lazy Sunday with my family and us cooking a meal. In that video my husband and I talked about one of our favorite mini doughnut places and it just so happen that in that week we visited three times. We had guest over and friends of our wanted to go there.
This comment said something to the fact that I shouldn’t eat the doughnuts and my husband is just worried about my size and I need to get healthy so I can have a long and happy life.
I always laugh a little when I read these “concerns”
I have battled eating disorder after eating disorder and although my BMI may be high my health is GOOD. NO high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes etc. You know…all the health risk that people think automatically comes with being overweight.
I let their comment roll of my back(since they hid behind a profile with no pic like a real concerned person lol) I decided to just go on about my day. When I first started youtube I would really let it get to me but now I was going to be my fabulous self no matter what. I came across this picture and I was immediately inspired.
Both my kids had taken a nap. I looked in my backyard and was like YEP I am going to photograph myself and show off my blackgirl magic. I am going to embrace all these curves, my natural hair and just WORK IT. Here are the results:
YESSSSSSS I am so happy that they turned out just how I envisioned in my head. So ethereal, calming and it captured me. I think its so important for us to love ourselves no matter what size we are. Self care and self love is so important and is something I am excited about teaching my son and daughter.
So many times I see people hide behind a computer screen and project their insecurities on others. Do not let those keyboard warriors take about your joy. You are beautiful.
What are some ways that you practice Self care? Let me know down in the comments
Since I started doing my makeup a few years ago(2 yrs this coming June) I realize that I love big bold looks
Those are fun to do but it’s ok to look subtle very now and then as well. I am so thankful that I have friends who love makeup just as much as I do and have introduced me to nude lips and “everyday” makeup. I have fallen in love with mauves, browns and peaches. I may even do a video soon to showcase my favorite browngirl friendly nudes.
I am so happy that one of my friends decided to help me out and show an everyday makeup look. You can check that out here. We decided to create these looks and demo the new Becca Chrissy Teigen Palette.
I am so glad that I didn’t write off nude lipsticks and glosses. I am having so much fun creating these everyday looks now. Let me know what some of your favorite nude lipsticks are.
Today Shea Moisture rolled out their new commercial under their new slogan #everybodygetslove and received some backlash. They didn’t show anyone with 4a-c hair and people are up in arms about it. While I understand why people are upset at the lack or representation in the commercial I am not one to boycott this brand.
When I first became natural over five years ago I had no idea where to turn to. Pantene was my go to but they only had a line for black women with chemically treated hair and it was so drying. I searched youtube and found out about Shea Moisture and decided to give it a try. I fell in love with it. I love that these products have become inclusive and people with MANY different textures can use this brand. My daughter and I have different textures but we can still use the same brand and that means a lot to me because I know and trust this brand for my hair.
This commercial I feel was just a way for them to try and bring in new clientele that they haven’t reached yet. I cab’t fault them in that. Now if this was the ONLY commercial they they released I would have been like HOLD UP! what about the people who made you who you are as a company. However, when they rolled out their new advertising strategy with #everybodygetslove they made sure that we were represented and beautifully I might add.
This commercial was 7 months ago and because we live in a microwave society sometimes its easy to forget things that happened 2 min ago let alone 7 months ago. We all lead busy lives. I honestly think that this was not a big issue and this touches on the subject of being so quick to turn our backs on black owned businesses. This company is STILL run by a black family and they make sure they cater to the black community. When they choose their ambassadors to the brands they make sure that black people are their representative( My family was chosen as a brand ambassador but believe me this in NO way makes me stand up for them based of just that)
This is a company I believe in and I have used for over 5 years. I didn’t see this much backlash when Pantene made a commercial that was obviously catering to a black audience when in fact the product didn’t start out that way.
I personally will continue to use this brand for myself and for my family
Here is the commercial that started the backlash
Edit to add update: Shea Moisture has issued an apology
